When I was in school I felt I didn't know what I wanted to do afterwards, I didn't even want to think about it. However when it came to sixth form I felt forced mentally into deciding what I want to do. Everyone was going to Uni at least that's what came across to me. I was confused, I didn't know whether I wanted to do a further 3 or 4 years in education especially considering I didn't know what I wanted to do at the time.
I chose criminology and to be completely honest with you I don't even know why. Fast forward I didn't get the grades to get into university and felt that I had let everyone down. Which was not the case, my mum pushed me to try an apprenticeship . After about two months of applying for various business administration positions and attending interviews, I got offered a position at a doctors surgery.
The 12 months I did at the doctors surgery were probably some of the best and some of the worst times I had experienced. Nevertheless I was glad I had tried something new and had found something where I could gain new skills and experience.
My experience has shown me that there is something out there for everyone. If you are confused and feel university is not for you- IT IS NOT THE END! There are other options such as apprenticeships or even just applying for a job.
Basically what I'm trying to say is don't give up- try new things, experience life. You will find something you enjoy doing and are passionate about.
